Abstract

Liposome and ethosome were lipoidal vesicles that used as drug carriers for improving the delivery of therapeutic agents. Entrapment efficiency describes as efficiency of preparation method encapsulate drug into vesicle. Therapeutical effect will increase followed by entrapment efficiency because of vesicle particle size and the lamellarity. It was a major factor that showed a good drug delivery system. The purpose of this research was to determine the entrapment efficiency of liposome and ethosome formula that can loaded 96% ethanolic extract of temu giring (Curcuma heyneana). Liposome and ethosome were prepared with ethanol injection method. Drug entrapment efficiency was determined by dialysis and analyzed by TLCVideo densitometry method. Entrapment efficiency of liposome formula had 80.85 % ± 1.05 and the particle size was 273.6 ± 20.4 nm. Whereas ethosome formula had 78.19 % ± 0.82 and 161 ± 18.96 nm of particle size. The entrapment efficiency of liposome was higher than ethosome.
