Abstract

The synthesis drugs in hair loss has various side effects. A herbal drug was needed to replace synthetic drugs and reduce the adverse effects that can occur due to the use of synthesis drugs. Hair tonic formulation of litsea (Litsea cubeba) seed extract and cananga (Cananga odorata) flower exctract in various concentrations were studied for their hair growth activity and physical stability. The objective of this study was to prove the growth activity and physical stability of hair tonic containing of litsea (Litsea cubeba) seed exctract and cananga (Cananga odorata) flower exctract were better than hair tonic containing single exctract of litsea (Litsea cubeba) seed and cananga (Cananga odorata) flower. Physical stability were tested by cycling test method observed from oraganoleptic, pH, and viscosity parameters. Hair growth activity were tested on the rats (Rattus norvegicus) hair. Hair growth activity was determined by calculating the length on day 7, 14, and 21 day. The weight of hair were measured on day 21. And photometric observation was on day 1, 4, 7, 10, 14, 17, and 21. Physical stability test result showed that all formulas have good stability. Formula 1 and formula 2 have p value < 0,05 which shows there was significant difference between the formula 1 and formula 2 hair tonic compared to the negative control. Hair growth activity test result showed that formula 1 and formula 2 had activity.
