Abstract

Ubiquinone (CoQ10) is one of the antioxidants that can be used as antiaging. CoQ10 is not stable to light. To improve the stability of the preparation, the drug delivery system is required to protect the active ingredient against degradation. SLN is delivery system that has a small particle size and is able to protect from degradation. SLN has a disadvantage that is the limited capacity of the drug, so that SLN is developed to the second generation of NLC. Differences in both particle size and trapping affect the ability to degrade protection. The aim of this study is to know CoQ10 stability, characterization and stability test of CoQ10 in NLC and SLN due to exposure of UV light 602 Lux for 20 hours. CoQ10 stability test for UV rays obtained CoQ10 results follow the order of zero reaction with k = 0,00289 mg/L.hour and t90 = 0,038 hour. The result of stability test on NLC and SLN preparations showed from the statistical analysis of Anova one way (α = 0,05), there was nosignificant difference between NLC and SLN in terms of pH, particle size, and viscosity if exposure UV lamps 602 Lux for 20 hours.
