Abstract

Background. Cervical cancer ranks fourth of all cancers that most often diagnosed in women worldwide (WHO, 2014). Cervical cancer is one of the cancers that linked to Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection which is sexually transmitted. Cervical cancer begins with lesions in the cervical epithelium. Objective. To determine the correlations between the risk factors of cervical cancer and the cervical cancer incidence in new cervical cancer patients at Ginecologic-Oncology Clinic RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya from March – August 2016. Methods. This is a cross-sectional study. The questionnaires answered by 60 new cervical cancer patients at Ginecologic-Oncology Clinic RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya and 60 non-cervical cancer patients at Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya were collected. The data proceed and presented in table. An Analysis was made on descriptive and analytical methods by using Chi-Square, Cramer’s V, and Odds Ratio. Results. Age of marriage (OR. 5.556, 95% Cl 2.081 – 14.835 for < 17 / > 21 years), parity (OR. 8.235, 95% Cl 1.575 – 43.065 for > 2 / 0) and smoking (OR. 4.636, 95 % Cl 1.938 – 11.092 for passive smokers / non smokers) are significantly related to the incidence of cervical cancer. Birth control pills consumption and number of marriages did not have correlations to the incidence of cervical cancer. Conclusion. The risk factors that contribute to the cervical cancer incidence in new cervical cancer patients at Ginecologic-Oncology Clinic RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya from March – August 2016 are age of marriage, parity and smoking.
