Abstract

Background : Polymerization shrinkage stress is a major factor in the occurrence of microcracks in the margins of the restoration and cause material failure. Microcracks are formed at the interface path restoration cavity and clinically undetectable and can result in the entry of bacteria and their products, liquids - liquids, molecules or ions - ions from the oral cavity. Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Ion Bioaktif is restorative material containing bioaktif reactive which can prevent microcracks on the surface of the tooth than resin flowable composite. Method : The cavities were made in 12 bovine teeth which included 2 groups whose contens 6 teeth each group. After the restorative procedures, the teeth were submitted to deionisasi water during 14 days. The sections of the teeth were examined under scanning electron microscope after undergoing incubator. The data were analyzed using the Independent t-Test (p<0,05). Result : Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Ion Bioactive group showed the lowest microcracks followed resin Flowable Composite. Conclusion : Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Ion Bioactive material has the prevention of microcracks enamel greater than resin Flowable Composite.
