Abstract

BACKGROUND thorax photo is an examination of the most widely performed in the field of radiology for radiodiagnostic needs. Many factors affect the thorax picture one of which is the weight of the patient that may affect the position of the hand, so it can affect the quality of the resulting radiology. PURPOSE To determine the results of the comparison radiography thorax photos generated by measuring the thickness of the body and the position (hand) the patient is embraced or brushed waist in patients who are overweight so that the scapula can open and does not cover the lung fields so that the results picture can be more informative. TOOLS MATERIALS AND METHODS The methods used in this research is descriptive with data collection techniques such as observation or direct observation in the field. Samples were taken from all patients overweight the period December 2015 - January 2016 at RSU Dr.Soetomo. Photos said to not meet the criteria where there is at least one failure, including: scapula cover the lung fields, both costal margin and sinus costophrenicus cut, V thoracic picture I - VII is not clearly visible because the indication kV less. The frequency of chest PA radiographs manufacturing errors in patients with more weight are presented in percentages and bar charts. RESULTS From the observation in patients given treatment brushed waist hand position, results percentage of the opening of the scapula overview of 29.33%. For the percentage of votes against closed scapula overview of 70.67%. As for the patients treated embrace bucky stand hand position shows the results of an assessment of the percentage of opening of the scapula overview of 79.33%. As for the results of an assessment of the percentage of closed scapula picture with the same treatment amounted to 20.67%. CONCLUSION From these assessments so that a picture can open Scapula that in female patients with overweight showed better results when given treatment position (hand) the patient is embraced than brushed waist hand.
