Abstract

Background: The dentin bonding material often used in composite resin restorations is HEMA, but has a toxic weakness. The addition of ethanol and air solvents to minimize these toxic properties. The ethanol solvent has a smaller Hbonding capacity than water so that fewer free radicals from the non-polymerized monomer are perfect. Purpose: To analyze apoptosis in cultured pulp fibroblast cells caused by the application of HEMA-based dentin bonding material with ethanol and water. Methods: Preparing cultured M3 dental fibroblasts of human pulp cells which have been extracted by tripsination method then after confluent cells were divided into 4 groups, ie cultured fibroblast cells without treatment, cell culture by adding chitosan scaffold, fibroblast cell culture with scaffolding dentin bonding with ethanol water respectively in polymerization for 10 second. Then included in cultured fibroblast cells followed by apoptotic assay with immunocytochemical method using Ethidium Bromide Acridin Orange staining and examined using 40x magnification fluorescence microscope. Results: Apoptosis of fibroblast cells dentin-binding dentine HEMA ethanol solvent 67% and dentin bonding HEMA water puffed by 44%. Conclusion: HEMA with a higher ethanol solvent than pulp fibroblast apoptosis with HEMA dentin bonding water-coated.
