Abstract

Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves have an important role in maintaining monetary and macroeconomic stability. Foreign exchange reserves are also used as sources of financing for international trade and debt instruments. The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the determinants of Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves based on the Monetary Approach to Balance of Payment (MABP) during the period of 2005 quarter I-2017 II quarter in the long term. The method used is VECM. The results showed that economic growth and domestic credit significantly affected Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves, while the real exchange rate and real interest rate did not significantly influence foreign exchange reserves in the long term.
