Abstract

Biosurfactant is an amphipilic molecule that released by microorganism or natural resources. Biosurfactant has been used in many industries such as cosmetics, antibiotics, antivirals, anticancer, and immunomodulators. Before the process of producing biosurfactant, it was necessary to characterize the isolat. The isolate were characterized and identified. Characterization includes colony and cell morphology, gram and spore staining, motility, biochemical test, and growth in Mineral Salt Medium. Identification was done by using morphology and biochemical test profile matching to Bergey’s Manual of Determinative Bacteriology. The result indicate that isolate Bacillus sp.C32b have similarities to Bacillus badius. The growth of isolate Bacillus sp. C32b in Mineral Salt Medium showed stationary phase after 33 hours cultivation. In early stationary phase bacteria genus Bacillus known can produce secondary metabolites such biosurfactant.
