Abstract

Anemia is one of major nutritional problems in Indonesia which still has not been solved and continue to exist, affecting health and quality of life especially in womwn. Based on Riskesdas data in 2013, anemia of adolescent girls reaches 23,9%. Anemia in young women is closely related to maternal mortality. Anemia is a risk factor for bleeding. One of the causes of adolescent anemia is the lack of nutrient intake. This is due to the rapid increase of nutrient needs during the second period of growth. Poor eating habits and poor nutritional knowledge also increase the risk of anemia. In addition, girls also loss a lot of blood as a result of menstruation every month. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of white oyster mushroom crispy on the increase of hemoglobin level and learning concentration in female adolescents with anemia. This research used experimental quasi design with randomized pretest posttest control group design. 26 subject aged 15-17 years old were randomly devided into two groups consist of 13 subject each. The control group was given Fe+folate tablet, while treatment group was given Fe+folate and white oyster mushroom crispy as snack for a month. Data was than analyzed using paired t-test and independence test. The results of this study showed no differences in the amount and level of energy consumption (p = 0.869), protein (0.481), carbohydrates (p = 0.420), fat (p = 0.088), vitamin A (p = 0.945), vitamin C (p = 0.523), and iron zet (p = 0.437) between the control group and the treatment group. The result of hemoglobin level analysis using paired t-test showed a significant difference between before and after intervention in treatment group (p = 0,000). While in the control group there was no difference in hemoglobin levels between before and after intervention. The result of statistical test of hemoglobin level using independent t-test showed no significant difference (p = 0,686) before intervention between control group and treatment group. Hemoglobin levels after the intervention showed a significant difference (p = 0.013) between the control group and the treatment group. The conclusion of this study was the administration of Fe + folate tablets added with white oyster mushroom crispy for one month could increase hemoglobin levels in female adolescents with anemia.
