Abstract

At this time there has been an increase in the incidence rate of noncommunicable diseases, which is a disease due to lifestyle and other degenerative diseases. One of the things that can cause degenerative disease that is state of hyperlipidemia. The diagnosis of hyperlipidemia can be established based on increasing levels of triglycerides in the blood. Experimental laboratories research with pretest-posttest design group used 25 rats which divided into 5 groups. The negative control group, positive control group and three treatment groups i.e. first treatment were given single clove garlic extract at a dose of 0.5 g/rat/day, second treatment were given a single clove garlic extract at a dose of 0.1 g/rat/day and third treatment were given a single clove garlic extract at a dose of 0.2 g/rat/day which the whole group was given treatment for 28 days. The result showed that triglyceride levels decreased at the first single dose of garlic extract dose 0.05 g/rat/day, lipoprotein lipase enzyme activity increased in the first dose of garlic extract at 0,.5 g /rat/day. While the results of histopathologic of the liver showed the description that the process of infiltration and degeneration of fat into the liver had begun to experience a reduction when were given the extract of the first single clove garlic dose of 0.05 g/rat/ day. The initial dose of single clove garlic extract 0,05 g/ rat/ day equivalent to 2,8 g / day in humans can lower triglyceride levels, increase the activity of lipoprotein lipase enzyme and reduce the incidence of fatty liver.
