Abstract

Stunting is a growth disorder, which is often encountered in children less than 24 months. The prevalence of under-five stunting in East Java in 2016 was 26.1% and the prevalence of under-five stunting in Sidoarjo Regency in 2016 was 21.9%. Stunting events at 6-24 months are associated with many factors, such as individual (mother) factors, environmental factors, and parental behaviors in caring for their children. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the behavior of mothers in the feeding practice in the Health Office of Sidoarjo Regency. The type of this research was observational analytic with cross sectional study design. The research was conducted in 3 Community Health Centers (Jabon, Porong and Tanggulangin) working area of Health Office of Sidoarjo Regency. The subjects of the study were 158 mothers with stunting children aged 6-24 months. Selection of research subjects used probability sampling technique. The status stunting of children was measured by body length according to age. Stunting incidence in this study was more common in children aged 6-24 months, 119 children with short category and 39 children with very short category on nutritional status, with dominated by boys (51.9%). Based on Binary Logistic Regression, it was obtained that self efficacy influence expected result and intention with significance p = 0.0001 and p = 0,021 respectively. This research concluded that mothers with high self efficacy has a change for good expected results equal to 45,39% and not good expected results equal to 54,61%. Furthermore, mothers with high self efficacy has a good change for good intention equal to 31.65% and not good intention equal to 68.35%.
