Abstract

Cooperation Affairs Division is the part of Surabaya City Government. Cooperation Affairs Division is very important because the duties are helping the government to cooperate with domestic, foreign and institutions. Cooperation Affairs Division was divided into three sub divisions, Domestic Cooperation Affairs, Control and Evaluation Affairs and Foreign Evaluation. The writer did her internship at Cooperation Affairs Division about four weeks started from 20th February to 20th March 2017. Having an opportunity to do the internship at Surabaya City Government as a Staff Assistant gave a lot of experiences and knowledge to the writer. The writer learned about the duties that was given by the staff such as writing and translating. The writer could improve the soft skills that she had been taught such as discipline, socializing, honesty, communication and knowledge. By doing the internship in Cooperation Affairs Divisions, the writer understood about the office world. So the writer was ready to come to the real workplace soon. In order to improve the quality of all staff members and the facilities, the writer had some suggestions. First, applying English in daily conversation or at least there were a certain days that used English language. It was important because learning language is about the habit to apply in daily routine. Second, Cooperation Affairs Division also needed to add more partners to make Surabaya could be well known in any countries. Third, updating the official website regularly, so people could get what they need when they access the official website. The writer experienced the same thing. While she was doing the final report, there were lot of information that is incomplete. Then, the writer must ask to the supervisor directly. Fourth, the facilities such as computer for the students while doing the internship. Computer was also very important because the task given by the staff related with it. It was the reason why when the writer did the internship, the staff asked to bring the laptop because Cooperation Affairs Division did not provide for the students. In addition, the writer feel glad for doing the internship in Cooperation Affairs Division. Hopefully the experience that the writer get while internship can be used in the future.
