Abstract

Introduction: Kelor leaf (Moringa oleifera) and kersen leaf (muntingia calabura L) have the same benefit which can reduce blood level glucose of people who suffer from diabetes mellitus. The aim of this research is to analyze the differences of blood level glucose decline to the clients who get the steeping of kelor leaf and kersen leaf. Methods: This research used quasy eksperimental method by using One Group Pre test-Post test design program. In selecting the samples used Purposive sampling methodis chosen which are totally 11 samples. The independent variables in this research are the steeping of kelor leaf (Moringa oleifera), steeping of kersen leaf (Muntingia calabura L), and placebo. The dependent variable in this research is the decline of blood level glucose. Data retrieval in this research is conducted during observation before and after intervention. Anova analysis is used in analyzing the data by significant level P = 0,0000 and test t-test P <0,05. Result:The results of this research shows that the steeping of kersen leaf (Muntingia calabura L) is more effective than kelor leaf (Moringa oleifera), with difference of decline average of the blood level glucose before and after giving the steeping of kersen leaf is 65,73 mg/dL meanwhile on kelor leaf is 41.00 ml/dL (P <0.05). Discussion: Kersen leaf contained saponin that did not found on kelor leaf. Saponin has its function as well as flavonoid. Nevertheless, flavonoid in contained on both, kersen leaf and kelor leaf that functioning to absorb the glucose by stimulating the production of insulin in the pancreas. It also impeded the glucose absorption in the intestine.
