Abstract

Community of flag football Sidoarjo Lobster Spartan is a sports community that makes flag football sport as its activity base. This study aims to describe the function of the community of Sidoarjo Lobster Spartan for its members to channel their interest in the sport, especially in flag football sport. From its function, researchers are interested to research more about the community of Sidoarjo Lobster Spartan.This research uses descriptive method using qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used participatory observation and in-depth interviews. Data obtained through data collection will be analyzed using Malinowski's functionalist theory. The results of this study show that the Spartan Lobster Sidoarjo community has four functions for its members namely the dynamics of activity, the means to establish interaction among its members and add relations, the means to compete and achievement, the means to share information.
