Abstract

The result showed that the teextile industry in Surabaya had a recovery after the upheaval of Arek-arek Suroboyo and colonial. In 1950 there wae a change of status from Gemeentee to Pemerintah Kota Besar Surabaya (KBS). This status shift was also followed by changes in the pattern of industry. The textile industry in the past was oriented to the benefits of private entrepreneurs. The entrepreneurs which is consist of Chinese, Arbics and Bumiputra started to establish and expand textile factories. This condition made private entrepreneurs play an important role in the journey of the city’s textileindustry. This thesis also describes the production and distribution proesses in textile factories. The application of modern technology to taxtile factories is carried out in stages to increase efficiency in production. The existence of this textile factory provides a respon se from the community and the city government. The resposes were used to find out the role textile industry in Surabaya.
