Abstract

Petai may lead to spasmodic abdomen pain, liver cirrhosis, gout, urinary obstruction and acute renal failure if in high concentration”. The aims of this research was to determine effect of ethanol extract petai (Parkia speciosa Hassk.) seeds on the SGPT and SGOT levels in rat (Rattus norvegicus). This research used petai extract and divided to four treatments. The first treatment (C) was petai with giving CMC Na 1 %. The second treatment (T1) was petai extract with doses 400 mg/kgBW. The second treatment (T2) was petai extract with doses 600 mg/kgBW. The third treatment (T3) was petai extract with doses 900 mg/kgBW. Experiment design used was Completely Randomized Design. The result was analysed by ANOVA with post hoc test Duncan. The SGPT levels was (C) 56.6±17.2 μ/L, (T1) 61.8±9.25 μ/L, (T2) 77±18.84 μ/L and (T3) 85±14.62 μ/L. The SGOT level’s result was (C) 155±32.47 μ/L, (T1) 157.6±22.37 μ/L, (T2) 172.8±37.63 μ/L and (T3) 215.8±36.63 μ/L. The result was showed at doses 600 mg/kgBW start heading towards to toxicity and already cause an increase in SGOT levels also SGPT levels but not significantly different with control group.
