Abstract

Bullying is an issue that can be found in a novel titled wonder by R.J Palacio. It often happens in everyday life and all people from child to adult can be the bullier or the victim of bulling and it can happen to a males or females. This focuses on the main character, Auggie Pullman, a 10-year-old boy with a physical disability on his face to achieve his goal to pursue a happy life struggle by solving the bullying problem. This research intends to discuss how the positive spirits from the personality of the main character Auggie pullman can overcome the mockery of his friends as depicted in the novel and the writer will use New Criticism to do the analysis. Because of that, the writer will used descritptive qualitative methods as analytical methods and the authors will analyze the novels using three formal elements which are plot, character and symbols.
