Abstract

There are seven species of the sea turtles in the world, six of them exist in Indonesia and four of them known lay eggs in Banyuwangi District, was dominance Olive Ridley turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea). In 2015 Olive Ridley turtle were included on Red List of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in vulnerable category that means Olive Ridley turtle is endangered. This research was a descriptive study which aimed to determine hatching success percentage of Olive Ridley turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) eggs in semi-natural nest which managed by Banyuwangi Sea Turtle Foundation (BSTF) at Boom Beach, Banyuwangi District. Percentage of hatching success was obtained from the total number of Olive Ridley eggs during the nesting period in 2018. Data obtained by observation and strengthen with the data and recording activity from BSTF. A total of 4495 eggs were incubated within semi-natural nest and obtained 3392 eegs were successfully hatch and 1103 unhatched eegs were found during this study. The percentage hatching rate of Olive Ridley turtle in semi-natural nests of BSTF wast 75%.
