Abstract

Introduction: Immediate help at the scene of a traffic accident must be carried out without having to wait for medical personnel, one of them by providing Basic Life Support (BLS). BLS behavior was formed due to an intention beforehand. Theory of Planned Behavior is a theory that can analyze and predict society intentions for BLS for traffic accident victims. Method: this study uses descriptive analytic design with cross-sectional bivariate. The sample consists of 62 respondents from 87 populations using total sampling technique. Data were obtained using a questionnaire and analyzed using Spearman's Rho test with a significance level of ≤ 0.05. Result: The analysis results show that there was a relation between knowledge and attitude, p value = 0.004 (p ≤ 0.05) r = 0.363 with them having positive relation. Knowledge and subjective norms (p = 0.011 r = 0.321) had positive relation. Knowledge with PBC (p = 0.000 r = 0.660) had positive relation. Attitude and intention (p = 0,000 r = 0,655) had positive relation. Subjective norms and intentions (p = 0,000 r = 0,491) had positive relations. PBC and intention (p = 0.006 r = 0.348) also had positive relation. Conclusion: the study shows that the better a person's knowledge, the better the attitude, subjective norms, and PBC. Community‟s intentions for BLS are influenced by the perception and motivation of health workers or trainers. The lack of media socialization and reluctance to engage in legal affairs becomes an obstacle of a person's intention towards BLS
