Abstract

The incidence and mortality of sepsis are still at a high level. HIV positive patients have higher incidence of sepsis and mortality than HIV negative patients. Furthermore, HIV positive patients also have much more antibiotic resistant than HIV negative patients. The aims of this study is to analyze sepsis trend, antibiotic utilization trend and drug related problems. It was a retrospective study with used medication records of AIDS patients with sepsis in UPIPI RSUD. Dr. Soetomo from July until December 2011. The result showed that from 39 patients had unspesific sepsis and the source of infection probably caused by opportunistic infection. Types of antibiotics used were broad spectrum and also narrow spectrum depending on opportunictic infection. Drug related problems identified from this study includes side effects and compliance of fixed dose combination, the use of amoxicillin-clavulanat resistance, ceftriaxon and levofloxacin duplication, and antibiotic use without clear indication
