Abstract

The flavonol rutin is potentially clinical relevant for its antioxidant activity, antiinflamation, and others. However, its benefits substance for therapeutic applications have been impended by the fact that rutin has poor aqueous solubility and low bioavailability. Solid dispersion of rutin-saccharides (maltodextrin, lactose, and sucrose) is wanted to increase rutin solubility and bioavailability. The aim of this investigation is to get characterization of rutin-saccharides (maltodextrin, lactose, and sucrose) solid dispersion that was prepared by dissolution method. They were characterized by Differential Thermal Analysis, X-Ray diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscope. The result was seen that solid dispersion has low melting point, decrease of diphractogram intensity, reduced particle size than rutin and physical mixture.
