Abstract

Orally Disintegrating Tablet (ODT) are becoming a popular drug delivery system for pediatric patients who have difficulties in swallowing oral dosage form. ODT is an oral dosage form which disintegrates rapidly and dissolve in mouth within <60 seconds without the need for water. The influence of polyplasdone XL-10 on physical characteristics and dissolution of paracetamol Orally Disintegrating Tablet with 1% gelatin as binder and manitol base prepared by freeze drying method was investigated. Tablet were evaluated for hardness, friability, in vitro disintegration time, content uniformity and dissolution. There was significant decreased of disintegration time of the tablet by increasing of polyplasdone XL-10 concentration. Results showed that ODT containing polyplasdone XL-10 5% and 10% fulfill the specifications, with disintegration time <60 seconds and friability <1%.
