Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know the histopathological changes of rabbit's epididymis (Oryctolagus cuniculus) after immunized with whole bacteria of Brucella abortus Strain 19. Sixteen male rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) age range 8 months with 1-2 Kg average of body weight were used. These animals were divided into two groups (PO and P1). P1 were immunized with whole bacteria of Brucella abortus Strain 19 0,5 mL plus CFA 0,5 mL injected subcutaneously, then booster 0,5 mL plus IFA 0,5 mL were given in 2 times every two weeks subcutaneously. PO were treated with subcutaneous injection of NaCL physiology 1 mL, then it was repeated 2 times every two weeks. This research was conducted for 9 weeks to determine the effect of vaccination in epididymis. The data were compared using Mann-Whitney U test. Statistical comparisons were performed using SPSS v22.0 for windows. The research result showed that the vaccination could make histopathological changes in epididymis of rabbits. It showed that the level of inflammation, degeneration and hyperplasia were increased if it was compared with PO. It could be concluded that the mean data of PO was lower than P1 in which the mean data of PO was 3,3 and Pi was 7,8. Key words : vaccine, epididymis, Brucella abortus Strain 19
