Abstract

Adherence is a major factor in achieving successful HIV / AIDS treatment. Low compliance can increase immunological failure, acceleration of disease and drug resistance. Therefore, this study was conducted to measure adherence to the use of antiretroviral drugs in HIV / AIDS patients undergoing treatment at the Airlangga University Hospital. This study was a cross-sectional study. All HIV/AIDS patients receiving ART for at least 6 months, taking ARV from the HIV at the clinic University Airlangga Hospital and willing to be respondent were included in the study. This study used Self-Reported Adherence (SERAD) to assess patient adherence on ART. The results were categorized into adherence and non-adherence. There were 24 patients included to study. The SERAD method showed that 100% patients (n=24) had adherence on last week, 87,5% patients (n=21) had adherence on last month, 95,8% patients (n=23) had adherence on three months ago. The most dominant reason for nonadherence was forget and falling asleep. The spearman correlation test showed that was no correlation between adherence and ΔCD4 or Viral Load showed (P>0,05). However, patients who adhered to the ARV showed an increase in CD4 value and Viral Load suppression.
