Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus is a retrovirus that causes a decrease in human immune system which could lead to the occurrence of AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome). This study aimed to describe the pattern of antiretroviral use in HIV/AIDS outpatient. This study was a retrospective study with a total sampling method. Data were retrieved from the medical records of patients who diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and fulfilled the inclusion criteria, aged ≥18 years old and using firstline antiretroviral therapy (ART), from January 2nd till December 31st , 2018 in the outpatient care unit at the Universitas Airlangga Hospital Surabaya. There were 73 patients included in the study and of which 67,1% were male. The most use widely ARV regimen in this study were tenofovir (TDF) 300mg, lamivudine (3TC) 300mg and efavirenz (EFZ) 600mg. Drugrelated- problems identified in this study were potential drug-drug interactions of nevirapine and rifampicin, zidovudine and fluconazole, zidovudine and rifampicin, efavirenz and rifampicin. Moreover the actual side effects that identified were anemia, increased hepatic transaminases, nausea, and headache. It guidelines a prospective study could be conducted to obtain outcome data from the long term use of antiretroviral in HIV/AIDS outpatient.
