Abstract

This research shows oral administration of the extract methanol of the root of Eurycomalongifolia Jack (EL) on mice can increase the Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), these hormons are required in spermatogenic process. Statistical methode used in this research are Randomized Severate Sample Pretest Postest Control Group Design 32 male mices are devided into four groups of treatments. Group / (KI) without treatment, Group II : daily 0.5 ml aquadest, Group III with daily 200 mg/kg BW methanol extract of the root of EL, Group IV with daily 500 mg/kg BW methanol extracts of the root of EL This treatment is performed for 52 days and then makes histhological preparation from left testis mice using paraffin methode and Periodic Acid Schiff (PAS) staining. The result of this research showed that the oral administration of methanol extract of the root of EL will increase the number of spermatogonium, primary spermatocyte and spermatid (P<0.05). The result also showed that the oral administration of 200 mg/kg BW/day methanol extract more potent than that of 500 mg/kg BW/day.
