Abstract
The present study was designed to identification of component of nutmeg oil ( Myristica fragrans Houtt.) seed. The component of nutmeg oil had been studied for their penetration ability into the skin of rat (Wistar strain) in practice of Timung using a modified Timung apparatus. Active compounds which penetrated into the rat skin were determined using Gas Cromatopraphy Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and identified as sabinene, limonene, β -phellandren, β -pinene, 1-4-terpineol, isosafrol, γ -terpinene, 4- terpineol, terpinen-4-ol, safrole. Component which penetrated into the reseptor pha se (buffer phase) are isosafrole. In conclution, component of nutmeg oil showed the ability to penetrate into the skin in the practice of timung.
