Abstract

In order to develop Central Ner vous System depressant compounds, Siswandono has synthesized benz oylurea and its derivate 4- t -butylbenzoylurea. To determine Central Nervous System depressant activity of those compounds,in this research they were tested by the Central Nervous System potentiation test method in mice ( Mus musculus ) . Before the activity test, the purity of those compounds have been detemined by melting point and Thin Laye r Chromatography ( TLC ) apparatius. The result showed that compounds were pure. The method of potentiation test consists of two stages, the first is the peak activity period determinati on and the second is thiope ntal potentiation test. 4- t -butylbenzoylurea as a test compo und and benzoylurea as a lead compound were given by intraperiton eal injection in mice with dose of 50 mg/kg bodyweight. By comparing the Central Nervous Syst em depressant activity of those compounds, the result showed that activity of 4- t -butylbenzoylurea was higher than benzoylurea.
