Abstract

Orally Disintegrating Tablets, especially which were prepared by freeze drying have started gaining popularity because this dosage forms disintegrate and dissolve rapidly. So this dosage form are suitable in elderly people suffering ostheoarhtitis and mus kuloskletal disorder who need piroxicam for their therapy. This research studied the effect of gelatin concetration on physical charateristics (hardness, friability and disi ntegration time) and di ssolution profiles of piroxicam ODTs prepared by freeze drying. Result showed that tablets containing gelatin 1% have better mechanical strength and dissolution compared to those tablets containing gelatin 2%. In spite of all formulations were disintegrated under 30 seconds in water medium at 37 o C
