Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate the effect of centrifugation, freezing process, and glucose as cryoprotectant on chitosan nanoparticles formation. Nanoparticles was prepared by ionic gelation and freeze dried. Nanoparticles obtained from ionic gelation was separated by centrifugation. The effect of speed and time for centrifugation, freezing temperature were also studied. After thawing, particles that had been processed with centrifuge speed 4000 rpm for 5 minutes and freezed at -30oC for 1 hour indicated spherical shape. Otherwise, SEM image of dried nanoparticles showed that agregation formed after drying for 24 hours.
