Abstract
The act of colonialism not only affecting the people, but also the nature. The act of colonialism can be seen from expedition. The expedition held by the American to help themselves by searching for resources from certain place, mostly where natives lives. They indirectly colonize the area as the result of expedition for the one of many intention of expedition. Not only colonize the natives, expedition also can colonize the nature, such as exploited it. The intention of expedition mostly direct from the expedition leader, how they act as the leader and how they command their member of expedition. In this case, gender become the main point of expedition leader on how they act as a leader. By applying Postcolonial Ecocriticism theory by Graham Huggan and Hellen Tiffin and supporting theory of Ecofeminism by Greeta Gaard, this paper reveal the way how male and female action toward nature can effect in the postcolonial literary work. Congo, a novel from Michael Crichton, express the way male and female view the nature. Male and female can have different result on the expedition as how they sees the nature. Using qualitative approach and textual analysis method this study focus on the certain characters view toward nature, this paper discussed how male and female view toward nature can affect themself and the nature.
