Abstract

The aim of the present study was to get solubility value of pmethoxycinnamic acid in oil/water nanoemulsion using VCO as oil phase and to get characterization of nanoemulsion system with comparison of surfactants (Tween-Span 80) : cosurfactant (isopropanol) 6:1. Comparisons of oil phase (VCO) : water phase (buffer acetic pH 4,2±0,2) were 1:20; 1:25 and 1:27,5. Three formulas of nanoemulsion was examined for organoleptic, conductivity, droplet size distribution, polidispersity index (PI), and solubility of p-methoxycinnamic acid. All formulas of nanoemulsion showed similiarity organoleptic (yellow pale color, transparent, and slightly viscous liquid). The addition of pmethoxycinnamic acid in nanoemulsion made the appearance of nanoemulsion more turbid than before and did not influence conductivity of it. The droplet size of formulas were 245,7±17,20 nm; 62,7±4,69 nm and 29,8±1,50 nm for comparison 1:20, 1:25 and 1:27,5(oil phase (VCO) : water phase (buffer asetat pH 4,2±0,2)). Solubility value for nanoemulsion was 0,282%; 0,285% and 0,317% for comparison 1:20, 1:25 and 1:27,5 (oil phase (VCO) : water phase (buffer asetat pH 4,2±0,2)).
