Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh excess cash yang dimoderasi oleh tunneling terhadap keputusan M&A periode 1 Januari 2000 hingga 31 Desember 2017. Terdapat 120 transaksi yang melibatkan 75 perusahaan sampel akusitor pada penelitian ini, dari 120 sampel terdapat 76 transaksi M&A yang telah selesai dituntaskan dan 44 transaksi M&A yang telah dibatalkan. Variabel independen pada penelitian ini adalah excess cash. Variabel moderasi pada penelitian ini adalah tunneling. Variabel kontrol pada penelitian ini adalah ROA, return saham tahun lalu, size, dan shareholding CEO. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode regresi probit dengan menggunakan (α = 10%). Hasil uji wald menunjukkan bahwa excess cash berpengaruh positif terhadap keputusan suatu perusahaan untuk melakukan M&A. Tunneling memperkuat pengaruh positif excess cash terhadap keputusan M&A.
