Abstract
This study aims to collect data on comparisons of the size and growth patterns of the hindlimb (legs) of long bones Cairina moschata and Anas plathyrynchos to determine the characteristics between Cairina moschata and Anas plathyrynchos. Cairina moschata and Anas plathyrynchos age 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks, and 8 weeks with male and female differentiators were used in this study. The number of samples that were used was 80 Cairina moschata and 80 Anas plathyrynchos. Bone and meat were separated with 3% NaOH solution through the boiling process. Measurement of Cairina moschata and Anas plathyrynchos’s bone was using a digital caliper with a precision of 0.1 mm. The results of the data processing of this study used a SPLIT PLOT method in SPSS. The results of this study were the differences between the length of the bone hindlimb Cairina moschata and Anas plathyrynchos between males and females. The long bones of Anas plathyrynchos were longer compared to Cairina moschata and the long of male animals was longer than females. The gender differences between Cairina moschata and Anas plathyrynchos were affected by the presence of the hormone testosterone in male animals which caused male animals grew faster. The bone growth of animals was started from the time it was born until mature.
