Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the profile usage of antibiotics class and understanding of Drug Related Problems in hospitalized patients. Research was carried out retrospectively at the Inpatient of Bhayangkara Tk II H.S. Samsoeri Mertojoso Hospital in Surabaya, from January 2011 to December 2012. Data were analyzed descriptively. Samples that met the inclusion criteria in this study were totaly 49 patients. 15 man and 34 woman. 38 patients hospitalized for a maximum of 7 days because diagnosis UTI uncomplicated. UTI diagnosis with symptoms of nausea, vomting, abdominal pain. 100% patiens received therapy empirical antibiotic. 1 of 49 patients was cultured but the patient recovered before cultre out. Empiric antibiotics most commonly used are the 3rd generation chepalosporin is ceftriaxone. The use of the intravenous route is the common chosen because the patient complain of nausea and vomting. Drug related problems potentially occured in this study were the use of kuinolon like ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin with obat OAD, furosemid, dan NSAID.
