Abstract

This experiment purposed to define the effectivity, stability, and acceptability of neem oil in o/w and w/o cream base with concentration 50% as mosquito repellent. The effectivity of the preparation can be defined with Aedes aegypti L. as a vector. This test was performed with the hand test method to eighteen human volunteers, preparation was spreaded to the volunteers back of hand and entered to the mosquito box test. Time of first mosquito bite was noted and it was analyzed with Paired T-Test of SPSS. The result showed that all preparation have significant differences each others. The most effective preparation gave the protection more than 30 minutes was o/w cream base. But it wasn't stable for 60 days observation. It could be observed from the organolyptic test, the type of emultion stability, pH test, and spreading capacity data. The result of pH and viscocity test was analyzed with Anava one way to know the significant differences between the formula. Based on acceptability aspect with softness test, spreading aese and impressed after used, it showed that the preparation on o/w cream base was more acceptable than w/o ones.
