Abstract
Background: Knowledge is one of the factors affecting adolescents to engage in sexual disorder or premarital sexual through the culture of dating. Based on previous research, it was reported that only a relatively small proportion of adolescents had heard about a place to obtain information and consultation regarding reproductive health. This current research aims to determine the relationship of knowledge about the effects of premarital sexual behavior with dating behavior in adolescents. Method: This research was an analytic observational method with a cross-sectional design. It involved 56 adolescents selected with a stratified random sampling technique. The independent variable was knowledge about the effects of premarital sexual behavior and the dependent variable was dating behavior in adolescents. Results: The result showed that the level of knowledge of adolescents on the impact of premarital sexual behavior was in a good category, while the dating behavior was in the moderate category. Spearman rank test results of knowledge and dating behavior in adolescents showed the p-values of 0.002 (p <0.05). Conclusion: The data show that there is a relationship between knowledge about the impact of premarital sexual behavior and dating behavior on adolescents.
