Abstract

Latar Belakang: Penyembuhan ulkus traumatikus pada Diabetes Melitus (DM) membutuhkan waktu cenderung lebih lama. Kondisi ini disebabkan peningkatan Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs). Interaksi AGEs dengan Receptor for Advanced Glycosylation End Products (RAGEs) pada fibroblast yang menyebabkan kadar Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) dan kolagen tipe I berkurang. Aplikasi gel ekstrak propolis (Apis mellifera) pada ulkus traumatikus sebagai pengobatan berbagai penyakit karena memiliki sifat antiseptik, antiinflamasi, antioksidan, antimikotik, antibakteri yang mempercepat penyembuhan luka. Tujuan: Untuk membuktikan gel ekstrak propolis dapat meningkatkan ekspresi EGF dan Kolagen Tipe I pada proses penyembuhan ulkus traumatikus di mukosa mulut tikus wistar diabetik. Metode: Jenis penelitian true eksperimental dengan rancangan penelitian post test only control group design. Tehnik pengambilan sampel adalah simple random sampling. Sampel berjumlah 36 tikus jantan wiistar dengan ulkus pada mukosa labial bibir bawah, yang dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok masing-masing 3 ekor tikus untuk setiap kelompok normal, kelompok kontrol dan kelompok perlakuan. Pada kelompok normal tidak diberi perlakuan, kelompok kontrol diaplikasi gel HPMC 5% dan kelompok perlakuan diaplikasi gel ekstrak propolis. Ekspresi EGF dan Kolagen Tipe I diamati pada hari ke 3, 5, 7, 9 dan dilakukan pemeriksaan imunohistokimia dengan Ab Mo EGF dan Ab Mo Col tipe I. Hasil Penelitian: Menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan ekspresi EGF dan Kolagen Tipe I dengan pemberian gel ekstrak propolis pada proses penyembuhan ulkus traumatikus tikus wistar diabetik. Kesimpulan: Pemberian gel ekstrak propolis secara topikal efektif meningkatkan ekspresi EGF dan Kolagen Tipe I sehingga mempercepat proses penyembuhan ulkus traumatikus pada mukosa mulut tikus wistar diabetik.
