Abstract
This research aims to determine the effect of extract ketapang leaf with various concentrations in laying chickens that have been infected by Avian Pathogenic E. coli (APEC) and measure the amount of erythrocytes (RBC), hemoglobin levels (Hb) and hematocrit values (PCV). The treatments were divided into 5 groups with different concentrations, including: K+, K-, P1 (5%), P2 (10%), and P3 (15%). There are 4 chickens for each group. The volume used in this study was 3 ml/head/day through per-oral. Chicken was adapted for 7 days and the extract was given on days 8 to 21. APEC infection was carried out on day 14. Blood samples were taken on the day 21 and data were analyzed. The results of this study indicate that the extract of ketapang leaf is able to maintain the amount of erythrocytes, hemoglobin levels and hematocrit values of layer chickens infected with APEC.
