Abstract

The fastest way in getting close to people from other countries is to communicateusing humor. One of humor that often used in daily life is word games. Humoroften create fun atmosphere and laughter. But not with dajare. Dajare is a type ofword play in Japanese that slightly different from other word games. The wordused in dajare has degraded meaning, thereby vanishing the humor’s quality(Otake: 2010). This unique characteristic makes dajare interesting to know how itsformed. Based on this, this study aim to identify the formation’s technique ofdajare in Japanese popular drama, with title 99.9% KeijiSenmonBengoshiSeason I and Season II. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative.This study use dajare’s theory to determine the formation’s techniques used infound data. Lexical’s and grammatical meaning’s theory also used to complementthe description. Then, in this study found total of 64 data with 77 formation’stechniques. These techniques included 4 homophony data, 5 initial mora additiondata, 5 internal mora addition data, 10 final mora addition data, 4 internal moraomission data, 2 initial mora omission data, 8 vowel transformation data, 12consonant transformation data, 1 data readings change starch, 23 data blend, 1data mix of languanges, and 2 data pause transference. It’s known that the mostused technique is the blend technique. By knowing the techniques used in theformation of dajare, researchers expect to make it easier for Japanese’s languagelearners to familiarize themselves with Japanese people.
