Abstract

An article was reviewed about the effects of variations in the speed of withdrawal and the future prospects of PCL-gelatin coated Ti6Al4V using the dip-coating method as a bone implant. This article aimed to determine the effect of variations in the rate of withdrawal on the coating by dip-coating method on the characteristics of the implants produced and to determine the prospect of PCL-gelatin-coated Ti6Al4V to be applied as bone implants based on the results of a literature study in the form of a journal review. Dip-coating is one of the simplest coating methods. Withdrawal speed is one of the factors that influence the performance of the coating on the substrate. This article compared the performance of the coating results on the substrate based on SEM test results, surface roughness test and corrosion test from several researchers, and discussed the advantages and disadvantages of various results of these studies and their prospects as bone implants. Based on the results of a literature study in the form of a journal review, the withdrawal rate that the coatings meet the implant requirements is 1.5 mm / s - 3.33 mm / s. The higher the withdrawal speed, the thicker the thickness of the resulting layer, and the higher the corrosion strength of the sample. Ti6Al4V is a titanium alloy metal that is widely used as a bone implant. Ti6Al4V has better corrosion resistance compared to some other metals such as SS316L. However, Ti6Al4V also requires PCL-gelatin coatings to increase the eligibility of implant characteristics that meet implant requirements.
