Abstract
A research has been carried out to evaluate the use of sequences T1, T2, and Susceptibility Weighted Imaging (SWI) in cases of chronic brain hemorrhage. The purpose of this study was to determine the image quality in sequence variations with the Time Echo (TE) and Time Repetition (TR) protocol in the detection of chronic brain hemorrhage. The pulse sequences used in T1 were Fluid Attenuation Recovery (FLAIR), T2 were Spin Echo (SE), SWI (T2*) were Gradient Echo (GRE). This research was conducted using MRI General Elektric 3 Tesla at Brain Clinic. 9 images from 3 patients with T1 FLAIR, T2 SE, and T2* GRE (SWI) sequences were obtained. The image was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Quantitative analysis was done by calculating Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and Contrast to Noise Ratio (CNR), qualitative analysis was done by One-Way ANOVA test. The research concludes that the sequence that can produce optimal and efficient images for cases of chronic brain hemorrhage is Susceptibility Weighted Imaging (SWI). Statistical test results specifically stated that the image quality between the T1 FLAIR and T2 Weighted Imaging (T2 SE) sequences was not significantly different, while the T1 FLAIR and T2 Weighted Imaging (T2 SE) sequences were significantly different from the Susceptibility Weighted Imaging (SWI) sequences.
