Abstract
Cancer is one of disease that has claimed victims, not only adults, but also children. Osteosarcoma is a bone cancers that can occur teens and children. Bone Graft is the one of its treatment. The research of Bone Graft application about the effect of sintering’s holding time variation to characteristics of the natural decay biomaterial Mg-Zn-Ca with powder metallurgy method. The research aims to determine the effect of sintering’s holding time to biomaterial’s characteristics and the sintering’s holding time that optimal for biodegradable biomaterial Mg-Zn-Ca with powder metallurgy method. The variations of sintering’s holding time are 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, and 120 minutes. The compositions of each Mg, Zn, Ca, and MgCO3 are 2,04 g; 0,87 g; 0,03 g; and 0,06 g. Milling for 2 hours, then compacting at 100 MPa and sintering at 5500C. The characterization was carried out to determine the effect of sintering’s holding time of Mg-Zn-Ca-MgCO3 alloys. The result of data analysis indicated that the longer of sintering’s holding time decreased the density, compressive strength, and corrosion rate, but increased the percentage of pore. The best sintering’s holding time is in sample C with the holding time in 90 minutes that containing compressive strength value of 26,86 MPa, the corrosion rate at 4,82 mmpy, the porosity value of 8,74%, and the density value of 1,11 g/cm3.
