Abstract

Contraception use among women younger than 24 years old remains deficient in Indonesia. This study analyzes factors associated with the use of contraception in women of 15-24 years old in Indonesia. This study examined data were extracted from the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey. A cross-sectional design was used as an approach to analyze data of 3,876 married women in their 15-24 years of age and their use of contraception. Chi-square test and binary logistic regression were employed to evaluate the predictors of contraceptive use. Our investigation found that the use of contraception at the time of the survey was 57.5. The findings in this study indicate that mother's age 15-19 years AOR = 1.58; 95% CI = 1.10-2.26, higher education mother AOR=5.37; 95% CI = 1.84-15.65, number of children more than three AOR = 25.58; 95% CI = 11.19-58.47, and territory in western Indonesia AOR = 2.78; 95% CI = 1.91-4.05 are significantly correlated with contraceptive use among the women. Thus, this suggests that the use of contraception among women aged 15-24 years in Indonesia is related to age, education, number of children in the family, and region of residence. This study recommends that a multisectoral approach is needed to solve this problem by taking into account uneducated women who live in central and eastern Indonesia. The need for more comprehensive education related to the use of contraception for pregnancy planning and the number of children by involving the husband as a decision-maker in the family. © Advanced Scientific Research.
