Abstract

This research aims to find out the influence of probiotic administration of Pediococcus pentosaceus on weight and histopathological description of bursa Fabricius broiler chicken infected with Eimeria tenella. This study consisted of five groups, each group there were ten broiler chickens (n = 4), the treatment group consisted of P0 (Control) given feed + drink, P1 was given a mixture of coccidiostat + drink, P2 was given feed + drink a mixture of probiotics Pediococcus pentosaceus., P3 was given feed + drink + inoculated oocysts Eimeria tenella, P4 was given a mixture of coccidiostat feed + drinking + inoculated oocysts Eimeria tenella, P5 was given feed + drink a mixture of Pediococcus pentosaceus + inoculated oocysts Eimeria tenella. The results of this research data processing using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) method and continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results of the data analysis showed that there was no noticeable difference (P>0.05) in all treatment groups. The P5 treatment group of chickens was given commercial feed + drinking water with a mixture of probiotic Pediococcus pentosaceus + inoculated oocysts Eimeria tenella, showing the highest figures against the weight bursa of Fabricius, the diameter of the lymphoid follicles and the number of lymphoid follicles bursa of Fabricius, compared to other treatment groups. The administration of probiotics Pediococcus pentosaceus can increase the weight of bursa of Fabricius, the diameter of the lymphoid follicles and the number of lymphoid follicles bursa of Fabricius in chickens infected with Eimeria tenella.
