Abstract
Early adult women with cervical cancer experience various problems in various aspects of their lives such as physical, psychological, social and environmental that decreased quality of life. Decreased quality of life can potentially worsen physical symptoms or hinder their treatment or medication. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) intervention can be an alternatif method to help improve the quality of life of individuals with chronic diseases through the concept of acceptance, awareness, and use of personal values to deal with stressors in the long term. This study aims to test the effectiveness of ACT to improve the quality of life of early adult women with cervical cancer. This study used a single-subject design method involving 3 respondents. Quality of life is measured by the Indonesian version of the WHOQOL-BREF scale compiled by WHO in 1996. The ACT intervention consists of 7 sessions based on the ACT procedure compiled by Hayes and Strosahl (2004). Based on the results of the visual analysis, it was found that there was an increase in the quality of life of each subject (overlap = 0%). The effect size calculation shows that ACT has a large effect in increasing quality of life (d = 0.92 (d> 0.8)). The results of the Wilcoxon signed rank test analysis showed no significant difference between the quality of life of subjects before and after receiving therapy (p = 0.109 (p> 0.05)). Based on the results of visual analysis and size effect, it can be concluded that ACT is effective in improving the quality of life for early adult women with cervical cancer.
