Abstract

Introduction: Contact dermatitis in elderly is chronic and recurrent which can be caused by a decreased immune reseponse in the elderly especially mediated by immune cells, which can lead to more susceptible to contact dermatitis exposure. Garra rufa intervention with environmental modification from Kolcaba Theory is an intervention that can be given to clients with skin disease one of which is contact dermatitis. This study aim to analyse the effect of was garra rufa intervention to comfort level of elderly who experienced contact dermatitis. Methods: Design used in this study was quasy experimental "vith pre-test posttest control group design. The respondent in this study is 22 person who had contact dermatitis at UPTD Griya Werdha Jambangan Surabaya and UPT PS Tresna Werdha Pandaan Pasuruan. Respondent selected through were purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaire with statistical tests of Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney. Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann Whitney U Test with significant level of p<O,05. Results: The result of this study showed a change in comfort level (p=O,002) in the elderly of treatment group and in the control group showed (p=O,317). The results of Mann Whitney U Test showed (p=O,OOO). There was different level of comfort between intervention group and control group (p=O,OOO). Discussion: It can be conclude that garra rufa intervention with kolcaba nursing care model is able to provide a relaxed sensation that affects the increase in comfort in elderly who experience contact dermatitis.
