Abstract
Industri pengolahan kelapa berkembang pesat dilain pihak limbah dari sabut kelapa belum termanfaatkan secara optimal Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggunakan serbuk sabut kelapa sebagai media tanam yang ramah lingkungan serta mengurangi limbah dari industri kelapa. Serbuk sabut kelapa dengan komposisi 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60% (bib) dicampur dengan tiga jenis perekat antara lain gum arab, pati gelatin. Pencampuran tersebut dipanaskan dan dicetak. Karakterisasi media tanam meliputi kadar air, pengembangan tebal, kerapatan, uji tarik, (stress, sf1:ain dan modulus young). Media tanam dengan karekteristik optimum diperoleh pada komposisi sahut kelapa 60% (bib) dan menggunakan perekat pati dengan karakterisasi kadar air sebesar 6.71%, kerapatan 0.2743 %, penyerapan air 221.84% dan stress 1.4670kN/mm2 , strain 0.0967dan modulus young 15.49071kN/mm2
