Abstract
Background: Impacted tooth can be caused by insufficient space while eruption. Complete tooth eruption will affect facial esthetic and the harmony. Surgical exposure is the surgery treatment for impacted tooth that can open the access for eruption and then helped with orthodontic treatment, so the impacted tooth can move following dental arch. Case: A 23 years old female patient was referred from Clinic of Orthodontia with 13 impacted. Patient is in orthodontic treatment. Case management: Local anesthesia was given on the patient’s mucobucal fold and palatal gingival area 13 which been impacted. Surgical exposure was done with closed-eruption technique. Button was attached on the palatal side of the crown 13 which been impacted and hooked it with ligature to SS 16x22 archwire. Closed the flap with interrupted suturing. Result: One week post surgical exposure showed the presence of redness and slight oedematus on the gingival area regio 13 with pain. Slight redness was seen on one month post operation without edematous. Followed by two moths post surgical exposure showed gingival area regio 13 looked normally without any symptom. Conclusion: Surgical exposure is an alternative therapy for impacted canine to support the success treatment.
